Meet Melissa from our Beach location! Melissa joined us in the winter of 2014 to jump start her postnatal fitness routine and she’s been training twice per week ever since. We’ve watched her tone up and get fit over the months and get back to her old marathon-running self. Melissa loves to be challenged, and we love to challenge her! Thanks Melissa.

What brought you to BB? How long did you train?

I started BB in March 2014, about five months after Oliver was born. I wanted to get back into working out, which I hadn’t been doing regularly in about a year. I’ve been doing twice weekly classes since.

What results have you experienced?

My arms are probably the best they’ve ever been, between the classes and hauling around an increasingly large munchkin. I’m still about 7 pounds from where I was when I got pregnant, but what I’ve gained in muscle makes it seem like I’m only 3 or 4 pounds away. My husband is impressed!

How do you stay active outside of BB?

I run 2 to 3 times a week with Oliver in the jogging stroller and sometimes accompanied by my husband. My easy transition back into running I attribute entirely to BB. I went back to easily running 5-8k over the summer with no problem and am now up to regularly running 10k at least once a week.

What is your #1 fitness goal now?

I’ve run three marathons all pre-baby and I’m eager and ready to run a fourth, post-baby. Just need to figure out which one I want to do. I think it’ll probably be the Marine Corps Marathon next fall.

Fave healthy food?

Asparagus wrapped with slices of turkey then grilled and a sweet potato on the side.

Fave BB exercise?

Burpees.

Exercise you want to punch in the face?

Jump squats up a hill.

Last splurge food or drink?

I just got back from dinner out with husband and friends. Took down a ceviche appetizer, chips and guac, scallops and veggies in lime butter sauce and two glasses of wine… Not my best. [we think you deserve it, Melissa…]
