What do top fitness trainers advise their clients when it comes to losing weight? What is that one tip that could help push you on your way to the body you’ve been working toward?

Well, I guess I’m not quite famous enough to be interviewed amongst fitness pros like former Biggest Loser trainers Cara Castronuova and Kim Lyons. Sigh.

But I do agree with almost everything these “fitness celebs” recommend in this awesome collection of fitness tips on EverydayHealth.com

My Number 1 Weight-Loss Tip

My favourite of the tips comes from slightly scary but always entertaining Jackie Warner (I know her from the old Bravo show “The Workout” as fitness reality TV is one of my only reality TV guilty pleasures). In our Belly Bootcamp classes, we achieve amazing results by combining challenging cardio intervals with strength training exercises, as well as by increasing the tempo of certain moves and adding little flourishes that really target the core & up the calorie-burning ante.

Jackie Warner follows a similar tack with her clients, and recommends to lose weight you must “Train With Intensity”….

“It’s not how long you train, it’s how strong,” says the author of This is Why You’re Fat (and How to Get Thin Forever) and 10 Pounds in 10 Days, and creator of numerous expert fitness DVDs. “Fifteen minutes of high intensity interval cardio is more effective than doing a hour on the elliptical or treadmill and reading a magazine. The best way to do this is a new method called cardio acceleration. This means adding one or two minutes of aerobic exercise between intervals of resistance training and switching back and forth — you’re actually burning more calories than you would if you were jogging on a treadmill. To me, this is a fantastic form of exercise, and a great way to do it is by jumping rope.”

some are exercise-related and others are nutrition-related, but none are complicated or gimmicky. Just good common sense advice from people way more famous than me.
